If you use a smartphone, you should listen to True Caller. Although in English it is written as Truecaller, here I have broken the word down a bit for ease of pronunciation / reading as True Caller. Whatever he is, the reader must understand. Now let's come to the real thing. The advantage of using True Caller is that if this app is installed, in many cases the name of the call and SMS donor can be seen on the screen when the call or SMS is received on the mobile.

That is, if someone's number is not saved on your phone, but True Caller is still installed, in many cases the app can tell the username of an unknown (unknown) number. The True Caller app, which is rich in millions of users, may seem like a bit of magic to you. However, you need to be a little more careful when using True Collar.

How does Truecaller work?

Very timely question. True Caller is no magic. It is actually a community dependent service. However, many people give information to True Caller without knowing anything. If it weren't for that, True Caller wouldn't be where he is today.

After installing True Caller on your mobile and opening an account and signing in, True Caller first uploads all the contacts (including name and phone number) in your phonebook to their server. As a result, True Caller knows the phone numbers of your friends, family, and people around you who were saved on your phone. True Caller leaves those numbers and names on the server.

This is how True Caller knows the usernames of different phone numbers, which is then used to show caller IDs for numbers that are not saved on other users' phones.

Suppose your friend's 'A' number is saved as 'A' on your phone. I don't have the number 'A' saved on my phone. When you install True Caller, the number and name of 'A' from your phone will automatically go to True Caller Server. Then if I also install the True Caller app on my phone, and if your friend calls me 'A', True Caller will let me know that this number belongs to 'A'. Although I don't have the 'A' number saved on my phone. However, True Caller took the number 'A' from you and informed me that this number is 'A'.

So, installing True Caller will move all the contacts on your phone to True Caller's server. If you think this will harm your privacy, think twice before using True Caller.

If you search for someone's number, that person will notice it

This is a feature of True Caller. If you search the phone number of a True Caller account holder and see his information, True Caller will remember that. There is an option in the True Caller app which, when opened,  shows  who has checked the account information. And since you don't have a True Caller account, you can't access its directory, so the people you search for will also get your information if they have a True Caller account.

True Caller uses Internet data

Needless to say, the True Caller app relies on the Internet to communicate with servers. However, once a number is displayed on your phone with its username, True Caller can show the username from previously saved data without internet when the call comes from that number again. If there is a net connection, it updates the database at regular intervals.

You can delete your data from True Caller

If you wish, you can delete your phone number and name from True Caller Server. However, later on, it may take your phone number from someone else's phone again at some point. But that's why you need to check True Caller regularly.

If you want to delete your number from True Caller,   visit https://www.truecaller.com/unlisting . Enter your phone number, fill in the captcha and submit, your number will be deleted from True Caller within 24 hours. If you have a True Caller account, you need to deactivate the True Caller account before unlisting.
